HHidersine-Logo-WEB-28112013171325The Hidersine Company, United Kingdom is the home of arguably the world's best-known rosins. If you are looking for Violin Rosin, Cello Rosin, Double Bass rosin or other fine bowed instrument accessories, you have found the right place.

Founded in 1876, The Hidersine company has been at the forefront of bowed instrument maintenance and care ever since. After the introduction of Amy Birch's 'AB' Rosin into the Hidersine family in the 1970s, and the addition of the legendary W.E.Hill & Sons' rosins in the 1980s, The Hidersine company has carved itself an enviable position in this specialist field.

Under the ownership of British Musical Instrument distributor Barnes & Mullins, The Hidersine Company can also now offer a great range of Violins, Viola, Cellos and Double Basses in a number of ranges from student up to professional.

Plus, our expertise has been used to source and refine a number of essential bowed instrument accessories such as the Maesbury or Oxbury shoulder rests, as well as our highly regarded range of Brazilwood, Pernambuco and Carbon Fibre bows and our range of class-leading protective cases.

A little history:

In 1913 Mr Francis Hider registered the trademark "Hidersol" as the name for his new stringed instrument varnish reviver and cleaner. A product that is still available today and is regarded highly by violin restorers. The trademark registration document from this period shows Mr F Hider trading as The Hidersine Company.

The Hidersine company was incorporated as a business - as shown by incorporation documents - in 1932, by Charles Robert Bethell and Robert Rudolph Hirt.

Throughout the years, the Hidersine Company became famous as a maker of fine Violin and Cello rosins and a number of stringed instrument treatments such as Hidersol and Hiderpaste.

During the 1970s, the Hidersine Company purchased the rights to manufacture AB Rosin - a rosin recipe created by Mrs Amy Birch. AB Rosin is still made to the same recipe today, and remains popular.

In 1986, Barnes & Mullins purchased the Hidersine Company from a member of Mr Robert Rudolph Hirt's family.

Manufacturing of Hidersine products was established in Oswestry, Shropshire, England. The Hidersine Company however kept its own ethos, identity and processes.

To this day, the Hidersine Company still manufactures rosin and treatments in the UK, but has also introduced a wide range of instruments and accessories sourced from various sources across the far east.
