Always striving to encourage and facilitate the joy of playing a bowed instrument, Hidersine have worked with a set of professional musicians and the European String Teachers Association (ESTA) to create essential technique video guides for all aspiring players. We are delighted to have Cathy Elliott, ESTA Ambassador and professional bassist presenting and curating the following Double Bass Technique videos.

Cathy started playing Viola originally, but soon switched to Double Bass and now enjoys a flourishing private studio of double bass students aged 5 to adult, and in 2009 was made a "Young Bassists Ambassador" by the International Society of Bassists.

Cathy is passionate about the importance of proper training for string teachers – that it is not enough to be able to play well in order to be able to teach well. She is actively involved in many aspects of training string teachers and is on the CT ABRSM mentor panel. Cathy was also responsible for the tutor series, Essential String Method published by Boosey & Hawkes and also runs a small publishing company, Bartholomew Music Publications, dedicated to writing and arranging repertoire for double bass teachers and students. Despite the very busy schedule, Cathy also plays for the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, London Mozart Players, Rambert Orchestra and various other groups in London.
